Theme: “Indigenous Peoples and Education”

This year’s theme draws attention to the issue of indigenous peoples and education. Indigenous peoples continue to face challenges in accessing their right to education, in particular their right to education in a manner appropriate to their cultural methods of teaching and learning and with full recognition of the diversity of their cultures. Highlights from the forthcoming publication “State of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Volume III” on this topic of indigenous peoples and education will be discussed at a special event at the UN Headquarters event in observance of the International Day.- UN Division for Social Policy and Development Indigenous Peoples
